Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in the United States Marko Đurić is on a working visit to Florida to expand the political, economic and educational cooperation between Serbia and this federal American state.

On the first day of his visit, Ambassador Đurić held a meeting with the President of the International Economic Cooperation Agency „Select Florida“, Tizje Vilamil, where they discussed the imminent opening of the first office of this investment agency in Serbia.

„Initiative of the American side to open the investment office of Florida in Serbia as the first representation of Florida in the Southeast Europe region confirms that our country is recognized as an economic hub and central point connecting American companies with economic entities in this part of the world,“ Đurić pointed out.

He expressed his belief that the future office of „Select Florida“ will be a catalyst for further economic development and investment potential of Serbia and that, by strengthening Serbian-American economic relations, additional opportunities will be opened for the entire region, including further cooperation with other parts of Europe, as announced by the Embassy of Serbia in Washington.

Đurić also met with Ralph Cutie, the General Manager of Miami International Airport, with whom he discussed the prospect of introducing a direct airline between Belgrade and Miami.

Taking into account that this airport is the first airport in the US in terms of international cargo and passenger traffic, wider prospects of cooperation with the „Nikola Tesla“ Airport and the national airline „Air Serbia“ were also explored, in order to further promote the tourist and economic capacities of Serbia.

The Investment Promotion Agency „Select Florida“ currently has 20 investment offices worldwide, 7 of which are located in Europe, in countries such as Germany, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Belgium and the Czech Republic, it was stated in the press release.
