General-major Pavel Klimenko (47), commander of the Fifth Motorized Brigade, lost his life on the front lines in Ukraine, according to Radio Free Europe.
Klimenko’s death was confirmed by his sisters, and he is the eighth Russian general to have died since the start of the special military operation in February 2022.
The British newspaper „The Sun“ reports that Klimenko was on a motorcycle near the front line when he was attacked by a Ukrainian kamikaze drone.
In that attack, he suffered severe injuries and was urgently transferred to a hospital in Donetsk, where he later passed away.
It is reported that at the time of the attack, he was inspecting checkpoints and observation posts.
General Klimenko was known for sending soldiers on dangerous attacks on Ukrainian positions, which among Russian soldiers became known as „meat grinder machines“.
About six months ago, he was promoted to the rank of major general.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that his comrades, in order to cover up evidence of the Ukrainian attack, disposed of Klimenko’s body after his death.
