Skijališta Srbije and the National Association of Parents of Children with Cancer (NURDOR) will organize a traditional charity ski race „I also fight“ on March 29 at Kopaonik. The goal of the race is to raise funds for the construction of the Parent’s House in Belgrade.

The ski race will start at 12 o’clock on the Karaman ridge slope, NURDOR announced. All skiers, snowboarders, and mountain lovers interested in participating in the race can register at the administrative building of Skijališta Srbije at Kopaonik.

The participation fee is 1,000 dinars, and the collected funds are intended for the adaptation of the new Parent’s House in Belgrade for the accommodation and care of children with cancer from all over Serbia.

The invitation also applies to those who do not ski but want to help, and they can do so by depositing money into NURDOR’s account (170-30010715000-82), with a note: Charity ski race „I ALSO FIGHT,“ call number 2903, and they can also help by purchasing a T-shirt.

The best competitors can expect valuable prizes, skis, and ski passes for the next season, the announcement stated.

NURDOR was founded in 2003 by parents of treated children, doctors, psychologists, and friends from all over Serbia, with the goal of helping families who are just starting the long and uncertain battle for their children’s healing.

The Association has launched numerous projects over the 19 years of its work aimed at improving the conditions of children’s treatment: eight rehabilitation camps for recovered children annually, five parent houses in Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Niš, construction of a new pediatric hemato-oncology department in Niš, weekly psychosocial support workshops for children and parents, volunteer education, parent and medical staff education, etc.

One such project, as stated in the announcement, is the project of building and equipping the new Parent’s House in Belgrade from 2019.

The goal of the project is to provide free accommodation and care for children and their families who come from all over Serbia to Belgrade for treatment.

„Considering that these are often financially disadvantaged families from smaller communities, it is extremely important to provide them with support. So that no child ever sees the disease as a disruption of childhood, and for parents, it is not a loss of dignity,“ the NURDOR announcement stated.
